Cost Reduction Strategies with ABC and Target
Costing
This course will enable participants to understand and apply contemporary cost management techniques to help them get a better idea of what it costs to produce products or provide services to customers. The course will also familiarize participants with the use of Activity Based Costing (ABC) and Target Costing to support managerial decisions.
ABC recognizes that many costs are driven by non-unit level cost drivers that relate to the complexity of the organization and the diversity of products and services it offers.
Alternatively, target costing is a market-driven approach to cost management that forces managers to think about cost during the product design and development stage, when they have more opportunity to influence those costs.
