Purchasing & Logistics Management for Managers
Managing purchasing and logistic properly in the supply chain can provide an important strategic benefit to the business. The course evaluates aspects of Purchasing Management, Logistics Management and Just-in-Time Management (JIT).
Course Outlines
- Purchasing Management—we will use the purchasing cycle to motivate and organize our discussion on the activities, the evolution, the structuring, the various forms (purchase requisition, RFQ or RFP, and PO or BPO), and the strategic nature of purchasing.
- Managing Logistics—the movement and storage of items. You will be exposed to key logistics management decisions, the goals that these decisions intend to achieve, and the recent trend towards third party logistics providers. In addition, you will learn to work through the computations of a typical logistics problem.
- JIT Management—represents a comprehensive management approach, built on top of a philosophy and a system of interrelated practices that have important ramifications, primarily on inventory management, purchasing decisions, logistics management, and materials flow.
